Thank You for the Box - by Andrew Barkan & Polly Hall Thank you for remembering it’s Hanukkah tonight! That gift you sent looks very nice lit up with candlelight. We hardly got it up the stairs (can’t believe you fit that thing in there!), it’s immensely large and monumental, big, gigantic and colossal… You didn’t have to go to all that trouble. But THANK YOU FOR THE BOX! I like to sit in it and read while I wear my reading socks. My parents didn’t understand until I showed them how to build a tower, knock it down and then construct a whole big town - and now we’re in the backyard, so we’re gonna need more cardboard… Did you know there’s another gift-giving occasion in December? Thank you for the very thoughtful-wonderful-and-lovely gift you gave me. I opened it with my entire family at dawn on Christmas morning. It’s like an alligator/alien and hours of entertainment - But then my brother stole it from me and I stole it back from him - After my mom took it away, I’m not quite sure just where it went… But THANK YOU FOR THE BOX! It’s exactly small enough to fill up with little rocks. It fits right in the freezer, now the rocks are really cold! It’s right next to the chicken pot pie that’s getting pretty old. Oh thank you, thank you for this box - you really know what’s up. It’s exactly what I needed. And did you know my birthday’s coming up? So next time, just the box please - We’ll build a pirate ship and sail around the world. We’ll cut it up and make a bunch of tiny leaves - We’ll stick them on the wall and fill the living room with trees… So THANK YOU FOR THE BOX! I built an awesome robot suit and wore it to the beach. We dug a bunch of craters, made it look just like the moon - I’m wonder, are you planning to come visit sometime soon? ‘Cause if you bring a box with you, there won’t be one but two Robots on the moon, singing a robot tune… THANK YOU FOR THE BOX! THANK YOU FOR THE BOX! How about in Spanish? MUCHAS GRACIAS for the box! MUCHAS GRACIAS for the box! LA Christmas - by Andrew Barkan, CJ Pizarro & Polly Hall It’s just an LA Christmas. It’s just an LA Christmas - ain’t got no pine trees. But it’s the season to sway together - We all palm trees, alright! Ain’t got no pine trees, we livin’ in the 90’s - It’ll reach a high of 83 degrees in Long Beach - the weatherman, he don’t lie. We want a white Christmas but what’s with this sky-blue business, so when Santa comes and visits will he be rockin’ a Hawaiin shirt? Most likely. It’s just an LA Christmas. It’s just an LA Christmas - ain’t got no pine trees. But it’s the season to sway together - We all palm trees, alright! So what’s wrong with sand, instead of snow? Streets all lit up with red and green telling me stop and go. It doesn’t matter if you’ve been bad or good, when the sun sets over Hollywood, We feel like all our dreams could come true. It’s just an LA Christmas. It’s just an LA Christmas - ain’t got no pine trees. But it’s the season to sway together - We all palm trees, alright! Tell it, Mista Cookie Jar! Sometimes you got to break tradition, okay? Listen to Andrew & Polly and just sway, yeah. Be like a palm tree, easy and yawning - Life ain’t so rough. All you need is just some la la love. LA LA LA, LA LA, LA LA, LA LA — LA — Christmas in LA LA. LA LA LA, LA LA, LA LA, LA LA — LA. Other Days 02:51
Other Days - by Andrew Barkan & Polly Hall featuring the wonderful Gabe Feenberg on trombone! Bells are always ringing ‘round Christmas time, On Hanukkah we’re singing ‘bout eight great nights - For everybody, everywhere, I guess it is the season. Mistletoe and stockings, candles and games - We’re celebrating all different kinds of ways - so let’s go, “LA LA LA LA LA together.” Well the truth is I like Christmas and Hanukkah, too. But I can think of better ways to spend a little time with you. So after all the holidays and after all the cheer - I’m gonna take your hand and jump in to the New Year. LA LA LA LA LA LA LA, LA LA LA LA LA LA LA We’ll sing LA LA LA LA LA, LA LA LA LA LA LA On the other days… Like the day we left it all behind, Packed our bags and moved to the other side, Looking for a greener kind of Tuesday. Well over here it’s quite clear to me, Happiness is everywhere that we go, “LA LA LA LA LA together.” So when everyone’s gathered ‘round that tree and lighting lights at night, I’m gonna make a list of all the ways we do the other days so right. So after all the holidays and after all the cheer - I’m gonna take your hand and jump in to the New Year. --- written by Andrew Barkan & Polly Hall (ASCAP) --- published by Ampersand & Ampersand (ASCAP)

I’ve been out on the road, missing my home, wondering where I’ll rest my weary head (ooooh). There’s so many places, so many new faces - wishing I’d be back in my own bed (ooooh). Hawaii and Colorado, Tennessee - I’m hoping I’ll be back with you for Christmas Eve. I’m home and away, Home and away. I’m home and away, Home… and away. It’s a question of where, it’s not really fair - I’ve traveled every river, lake and sea (ooooh). I didn’t know I’d be gone, but new lines have to be drawn - I practice the fine art of cartography (ooooh). New York and Oklahoma, and Kentucky - I’m hoping I’ll be back with you for Christmas Eve. I’m home and away, Home and away. I’m home and away, Home… and away. And one day I’ll take you with me - I’ll take you with me. I’ll take you with me and we’ll discover something that’s not even on a map yet (ooooh). And we’ll be home and away, Home and away. We’ll be home and away, Home… and away. --- written by Andrew Barkan & Polly Hall (ASCAP) --- published by Ampersand & Ampersand (ASCAP)
